MILLIE MARTINEZ SUAREZ, MS, CCC-SLP

Experience

Millie Martinez Suarez, M.S., C.C.C., is the founder, owner, and director of Speech Pathology Educational Center (S.P.E.C.) She graduated from Eastern Illinois University (EIU) with a Master of Science degree. After many years of practicing Speech-Language Pathology, she went into private practice as Millie Martinez Suarez and Associates where she provided services to children in their homes. In 1991, she opened the doors to S.P.E.C., which has grown exponentially over the years offering quality speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, various reading, and educational programs.

Throughout over 40 years as a speech language pathologist, Millie has provided her patients and the community with a high level of expertise in the area of speech and language. For the past 12 years she taught future educators and speech language pathologist as an adjunct professor at Florida International University. Most recently, along with her duties at S.P.E.C., she continues her passion of teaching others while leaving her mark on speech language pathology, as the Clinical Education Coordinator at Albizu University. She enjoys teaching workshops, supervising clinical experiences, and placing students in their practicum sites.

Recognition

Millie was recognized in 1997 by, EIU’s Communication Disorders and Science Department with the Outstanding Alumni of the Year Award for her work with multicultural children and their families. In 2009, she was awarded the President’s Award from the Florida Association of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists in honor of her dedication to the children of the State of Florida. She has received the Key to the City from Representative Bruce Kaplan. Millie sits on various boards and councils in Miami Dade County and enthusiastically mentors and provides in-services to other professionals.

In her spare time, Ms. Suarez enjoys music, the outdoors, and reading. She will always say her most admirable contribution to society and what she is most proud of is her four wonderful children!

Denise Elizondo, MS, CCC-SLP

Experience

Denise Elizondo is the Assistant Director at the Speech Pathology and Educational Center, Inc. Denise earned her Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI in 2007. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO in 2010. During her undergraduate and graduate studies Denise was fortunate to have had the opportunity to gain experience working with children and teenagers in schools, outpatient and private settings along with adults and geriatrics in rehabilitation centers, hospitals and nursing homes.

Following her graduation from Rockhurst University Denise moved to Miami, Florida in July of 2010 to pursue her career in speech-language pathology. Since moving to Miami Denise has worked in outpatient clinics for children and adults, home health settings and private schools for children with special needs. Denise prides herself in being a versatile and well-rounded speech-language pathologist by being able to provide services across a lifespan.

Certifications

Denise is certified in Allen Cognitive Levels, Vital Stimulation, Lee Silverman Voice Treatment; LSVT Loud and SOS approach to feeding along with owning several of Michelle Garcia Winner’s social thinking curriculums. Denise is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
