SPEC is a firm believer that helping children succeed is a community effort. For this reason, community involvement is an integral part of SPEC’s commitment to reach out, serve and educate schools, as well as families and leaders about special needs and the importance of detection and early intervention. In addition to the services offered at SPEC, we often conduct hearing, vision, handwriting, and speech & language screenings at area daycares and schools. We have also provided speech and occupational therapies, and helped set up educational programs within schools. Additionally, we partner with community organizations to provide seminars, among them Citrus Health Networks, FIU Communication Services, Albizu University Miami, Disorders Department and Parent to Parent of Miami-Dade County.

Hearing, vision, handwriting and speech/language screenings, teacher in-services, parent presentations along with speech therapy and/or occupational therapy have been provided at many schools and community centers.
